Hi Everyone,
My name is Rusty Buchert. I joined the crew at WhiteMoon Dreams at the beginning of the year as Executive Producer. Things have been quiet for a while and I wanted to check in with everyone about E3, Lock and Load, and the WARMACHINE game itself.
I’m going to be a little all over the place, but it’ll make sense once we I’m done. At least I hope it does…
The whole crew has been going through the madness of working towards completing our vertical slice. What the heck does that mean? Well, a vertical slice is a chunk of hands-on game play that is representative of the final game – basically, you can hand the controller over to someone and say “Have Fun!” This includes art, sound, game play, etc. Potential publishers are much more likely to take a game in development seriously when they can actually play it. We are still a little ways off on having the playable as tight as we want it but we are getting there very quickly.
This ties into E3 for us this year. Outside of getting to see what everyone else is working on, we were doing meetings with publishers prepping them for our hands-on road trip at the end of this summer. We had some productive talks and we also had our latest trailer to show them as well. When they saw it, they got it – but they still want to play it before any decisions are made. Soon they’ll have that chance!
Last but not least the E3 trailer had its first public showing at Lock and Load GameFest June 18th and 19th. Pretty much everything you will see in it, is actually from the game in real time. Check it out! You know you want to! http://whitemoondreams.com/warmachine/media/video/.
If you are having problems click on through to see it on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHG6BhqZY74.
Let us know what you think. I’ll be checking in on forums on a regular basis.
No Guts, No Glory!
Rusty
